Guest Lecture: Kumushoy Abduraimova

On 10 September 2025 at 2:00 PM, New Uzbekistan University will host a lecture by Kumushoy Abduraimova, Assistant Professor of Finance at Durham University Business School. The session, titled “A Subtle Introduction to Financial Machine Learning,” will explore how machine learning is transforming finance, covering foundational concepts, unique challenges of financial data, and its potential for risk management and quantitative analysis.

Dr. Abduraimova holds a PhD and MSc from Imperial College London and has conducted research on systemic risk, financial contagion, and network-based risk. She has also been a visiting academic at the Bank of England, combining rigorous quantitative research with practical applications in financial stability and policy. Her work equips students with insights into how advanced computational methods can analyze complex economic and financial systems.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of financial machine learning, learn how these methods address real-world challenges, and engage with a leading scholar whose research bridges academia and practice. This lecture offers a valuable opportunity for students interested in finance, economics, data science, or research careers to deepen their knowledge and explore cutting-edge tools shaping modern finance.
